The whole experience was fantastic. Waking up before sunrise and walking in the desert was magical and an experience I will never forget
Going Vintage in the UAE Desert

Platinum Heritage runs an excellent safari operation. We were picked up by Ahmad, our guide, directly at our hotel in downtown Dubai and driven about an hour into the desert toward Al Ain in Abu Dhabi. The desert preserve is immaculate and located near to the main highway. While approaching, the fencing identifies the boundaries of the protected reserve area, but more importantly provides the first glimpse of the large herds of indigenous Oryx that run free here. It was at this point that my family and I could clearly see and hear how passionate our guide, Ahmad, was about the protection and nurturing of the local wildlife.

This theme of preservation and wildlife custodianship was recurrent from this point in the safari. We were given local kufiyeh headwear to protect our scalps and assigned to vintage Land Rover Defender open top jeeps to start our journey through the desert. The UAE desert during the summer is extremely hot, cruel and inhospitable, meaning seeing larger wildlife aside from the Oryx is rare, so it was the rare sighting of small critters that animated our jeep. The dunes during sunset are eerily quiet, expansive to the horizon, and become a spiritual open air space to connect with a unique biome that has necessitated local inhabitants and nomads develop specialized survival skills that have been handed down to proceeding generations over course of several millennia.

We watched a falconer demonstrate a fascinating falconry show as we enjoyed the sugary goodness of local mint tea. We then went to the bedouin enclosure for a short camel ride and refreshments, followed by an incredible multi course meal that included the most delectable grilled oysters (with butter and garlic) that I've ever eaten. The local lamb and chicken were outstanding. Throughout the meal, Ahmad was constantly checking on us, and bringing more food and drink whenever needed. After watching and participating in drumming and dancing to indigenous songs with local performers, the tour participants retired to the large and plush Arabian carpets to have tea and enjoy delicious hookah pipes as we gazed at the stars clearly visible above. There was a astronomy lecture as the cooling temperatures allowed guests to sit back and enjoy a temperate June evening.

We did not have an overnight tour. My understanding is that the summer heat makes the stone accommodations akin to large ovens, and when I went into one of the rooms, I can confirm that it was hot! We left at around 10pm, Ahmad driving us back to our downtown hotel. On the way out to the highway, a herd of camels were meandering down the road, seemingly showing up to wish us well as we departed. Ahmad was happy to stop and allow us to enjoy the experience, before getting us back into the bustling city. Thank you Ahmad for your spirit, kindness and knowledge, making the experience one that we look forward to repeating.

Our guide Lize was excellent! She was friendly, funny and very knowledgeable - also a great driver!
The Safari was beautiful with amazing views. Our night in the desert was great, we enjoyed some amazing food, stargazing and plenty more.
We slept in the very comfortable Bedouin camp and woke up to see sunrise from on top of a dune. It was magical. We then had a delicious breakfast and enjoyed peacefulness of the desert camp before returning to the city. We will definitely be back!

The staff are very good I was forced to a late arrival the office staff and the park staff went out of their way to help arrange alternate plans and ensured my guest missed nothing

Some of these experiences are very commercial with jugglers and fire dancers and dune drives etc
Some have tents nor stones wall huts

Platinum was closest to authentic while still having tourist feature
Comforts all together a different and better experience

Food was great ,rooms great, eco walks great ( plenty to
See )

But the highlight was the staff who helped make sure our stay was a great experience
Team Building experience!

We did our Dubai Balloon team building with platinum heritage (overnight) and it was really fun. We did all the activities except the hot air balloon ride becoz of the weather condition (it's too windy). Our 3 tour guides are so helpful Jay, Hamza and.. (i can't remember the name of the other guy thou, he's from India I guess)... We really had a great time. All staffs are great aside from the scenery. And the food are so yummy and historical (I love the watermelon juice

Platinum Heritage offers a unforgettable desert safari experience from vintage Land Rovers to picturesque desert locations. A must try for your visit to Dubai. Our guide, Nizar (highly recommended) was friendly, warm and kind. We was always there if we needed anything. The dinner and breakfast selection was amazing.
Desert, balloon and … waouhhhh
Anne-Marie F, 04-04-2022
Great moment in the middle of the dunes ! I would have had more time to enjoy this scenary and see more wild animals (not behind fences). After the evening and night in a camp, we had air balloon in the morning and I can just say waouhhhh … Big thanks to Ahmed, our driver and guide
Most sustainable, but not authenic experience
tamfeiertag, 26-03-2022
I was looking for something authentic to experience during our trip to Dubai. This tour seemed to be the best fit. While the tour definitely was the most sustainable around Dubai (reason why I’d still recommend it), it felt like a stay in an all-inclusive luxury club in the middle of the dessert. So, if you are looking for an environmentally aware and luxury excursion to the dessert, this is the right choice. If you are looking for an authentic experience, I’m not sure if that’s even possible close to Dubai. In general, please do not support any of those dune bashing tours, as they destroy what’s left of the nature here.
