Hallo, ben je enthousiast over het bijwonen van een kookcursus in de Emiraten? Bij aankomst in het Al Khayma Heritage-huis, verken je de architectonische schoonheid van het erfgoedhuis, gevolgd door de Emirati-gastvrijheid te ervaren met traditionele Gahwa (koffie) en dadels.

Omdat ze milieuvriendelijk zijn, zijn alle items die we in onze zaal tentoonstellen met de hand gemaakt door verschillende bekwame ambachtslieden, waardoor verantwoord toerisme wordt ondersteund.

Great experience - highly recommended!

We were unsure what to expect not having attended cooking classes previously. From the get go we were made to feel comfortable and looked after by Chef Sanjara and his team (who made sure we were given water and delicious mint and lemon drinks).

We cooked three courses including machbous, an emirati rice based dish. We really enjoyed the experience and felt relaxed throughout - it was apparent that Chef Sanjara was not clock watching and has a genuine love for food! It was interesting hearing about his time as a chef in the UAE.

Given Chef Sanjara’s experience and his delivery of the class - the cooking class would be suitable for people at both ends of the spectrum - people with little or no experience or advanced chefs looking to hone their skills.

We had a fantastic evening and would highly recommend this experience.

This cooking class was at the top of my list of things to do in Dubai and it did not disappoint. I turned up at 5pm at the restaurant and I was introduced to Chef Sanjara. Chef has many years of experience in lots of different cuisines including Sri Lankan, Japanese, French and Indian. He is dedicated to his profession and has a wealth of experience running kitchens in several high end hotels in Sri Lanka, Dubai and the Royal Palace. I enjoyed my experience immensely, I was lucky to have my session 1-2-1. I was shown ingredients I’ve never seen or used before and I tried different cooking techniques. From start to finish the cooking/ dining experience was complimented by lots of hot & cold refreshments in a cool traditional local restaurant. The cooking classes are held in a purpose built area at the back of the restaurant and all the spices are set up for you, chef talks you through each ingredient and explains each dish and it’s origins, Machboos (main course with chicken) Regag bread and Luqaimat (dessert). If you have never tried anything like this before either as an individual or in a group, you should as it would be a highlight for anyone visiting Dubai and you get to eat your dishes or take them home. Thank you Chef and his team. 10/10.

The Best Cultural & Culinary experience in Dubai

This is the best cultural & culinary experience in Dubai. I felt welcome right from the start & had an amazing time with Chef Sanjaya & his team, learning to cook three local dishes including chicken majboos, which was then served to me in the main restaurant. The courtyard kitchen is well set up & despite the temperature outside, I was able to keep cool with a delicious lime & mint drink & cool water, all part of the experience. Whether you have limited time in Dubai or plenty of time to spare this activity is an ideal way to learn about the culture & enjoy a fantastic meal.

This was an amazing experience. I'm not one for touring around however, when it comes to cooking and eating a nice meal, I'm in! I highly recommend this experience with Chef Sanjaya. I was the only one in the class and the one-on-one experience was perfect.

We cooked what I would call an Emiratis Jambalaya or Biryani; however, it was not spicy, more on the sweeter side, Machboose. Delicious! I learned a few more spices to add to my repertoire, use fresh spices for the "masala" and how to get my Basmati Rice just right.

Next trip to Dubai and I will be there for another class.
